After a week of snow blizzards and cold weather, I was relieved to make the journey to Dunglass Estate with the sun shining and not a snowflake in sight. The venue was looking beautifully spring like, surrounded by daffodils with baby lambs running and jumping in the field beside. I made my way over to the house where Rachael and her mum and sisters were getting ready. Everybody was so relaxed and calm; Rachael’s three sisters, her bridesmaids, were totally on top of any jobs that needed doing so Rachael was able to focus on getting ready and enjoy the morning. I popped over to the church and marquee to see them all set up and take a few shots and when I got back the girls were just getting the finishing touches to their hair and make up ahead of the most exciting part of bridal preparations - dress time! The bridesmaids buzzed around Rachael, each with a job to do, and she was into her dress and looking incredible in no time. After a few family photos, I left them so I could join the boys who were greeting the guests. Staff were handing out hot water bottles to everyone and cosy blankets lay on the chairs in the church - it might be have been spring but it is Scotland after all! It didn’t take long before the atmospheric little church was full of excited family and friends and John made his way to the front with his groomsmen, to await his bride. The sound of bagpipes in the distance soon let us know she was on her way. The ceremony was beautiful and personal and the church was the perfect setting. Rachael was the happiest bride and I don’t think I took a single photo all day where she wasn’t smiling! The newly married couple made their way out of the church for a moment alone while we organised everybody for the much anticipated confetti shot...I knew from chatting at their engagement session that both Rachael and John were looking forward to this. Thanks to the wonderful bridesmaids, it went smoothly and we nailed it! Rachael and John enjoyed drinks in the marquee with their friends and family before some group photographs and their couple portraits, which we got through really quickly thanks to the rain! They had very kindly arranged for me to sit amongst the guests for dinner so after some brilliant speeches we tucked into one of the best wedding meals I’ve ever had. I left them shortly after their first dance in the capable hands of their fantastic wedding band, Bleeker, ready to dance the night away.
